Recently Google has introduced a new keyword matching option to go with the others. There used to be only Broad, Phrase and Exact keyword matching but now there is a 4th option. With the broad match type there is now an option called Broad Match Modifier which is used by putting a + sign in front of any words that must be a part of the surfer’s search phrase. This may sound a bit technical but we will explain it more.
Broad match modifier is used by adding a +sign in front of any single word in your keyword phrase. You can use it on every word, a couple of them or all in your search phrase. For example:
Keyword: +auto +dealership +Windsor
- Showing for ‘Auto Dealership in the city of Windsor‘
Keyword: auto +dealership +Windsor
-
- Showing for ‘Car Dealership close to Windsor‘
Keyword: auto +dealership Windsor
-
- Showing for ‘Truck Dealership in Ontario’
Having this new option really gives those who want more filtered results that use broad match type. Also, for those who use phrase match type, you still get most of the quality with the actual search phrases well in the meantime targeting a larger search volume.
